About Me

I’m Liz Gloor, a freelance editor based in the Pacific Northwest. For the past ten years I’ve called Seattle, Washington, my home. Prior to that, I lived in New York, where I first began working for a Manhattan-based educational publishing company fifteen years ago. I spent the first five years of my tenure in-house, and I was lucky to retain the position when my husband and I relocated to Seattle. I hold a certificate in editing from the University of Washington, and I’m a member of the Northwest Editors Guild.

As a former Production Editor, I have a comprehensive understanding of the stages of the publishing process, from manuscript to final copy, and I’d like to share that knowledge with you. Whether you’re a first-time writer interested in self-publishing your debut novel or a seasoned veteran hoping to secure representation, I’ll help you polish your work into its final form.

I first came to publishing because I love to read. Like many life-long readers, I can track the major moments of my life through the books I was reading at the time. From learning to read with Ramona and Beezus in early elementary school, to discovering Wuthering Heights in seventh grade, and working my way through classic doorstoppers throughout high school and college, books have been a through line in my life. I have broad tastes, but these days when I’m reading for pleasure, I mostly reach for fiction, literary and genre alike. As an editor, I specialize in fiction and narrative nonfiction, but I’m always interested in broadening my horizons. I am a generous, good-faith reader, so please feel free to send me your thorniest work! I look forward to working with you.
